Guide for level 20

Level 20–24: the cat

Goal: do The Great Cat Spirit and switch to cat as your default.

  • In Forever, Night Elf druids get Cat Form through the quest The Great Cat Spirit from Darnassus (Method, Hearthproof, Warcraft Tavern). Hearthproof describes the chain: Mathrengyl Bearwalker → Dendrite Starblaze → the cat spirit in southern Moonglade → three relics in the Stormrage Barrow Dens → back again. Hearthproof gives 2,885 XP; verify in game.
  • With the cat come Prowl, Claw, Rip and Shred (all level 20 in the data), plus Omen of Clarity, Starfire and Rebirth at the trainer. Verify in game where Omen of Clarity is learned and keep it active if it is a buff.
  • Warcraft Tavern states that druids can train polearms from 20. Hearthproof lists it as unconfirmed – ask a weapon master.
  • Cat loop at 20–23: Prowl if it saves time → Shred from behind as an opener, otherwise Claw → Claw up to 4–5 combo points → Rip if the target will live a while, otherwise keep hitting.
  • Level 24: Rake and Ferocious Bite. New loop: opener → Rake → Claw up to 4–5 combo points → Ferocious Bite (or Rip against tough targets). Rake will later activate Rend and Tear.
  • Ashenvale (Astranaar) is the natural Night Elf zone for 20–25 (assumed from Classic).

Checkpoint: level 24, Cat Form, Feral Swiftness 2/2, Sharpened Claws 2/2.

Guide for level 20

Level 20–24: the cat

Goal: Cat Form, and cat as your default against single mobs.

  • The client data lists Cat Form, Prowl (stealth), Claw, Rip, Shred, Omen of Clarity, Starfire and Rebirth at 20. Night Elf druids get cat through the quest "The Great Cat Spirit"; for Skyborne – verify in game with the trainer.
  • Omen of Clarity: a chance that your next ability is free. Keep it active if it is a buff in your spellbook.
  • Cat loop 20–23: Prowl if it saves time → Shred if you are behind, otherwise Claw → Claw up to 4–5 combo points → Rip if the target will live a while, otherwise keep hitting.
  • Level 24: Rake and Ferocious Bite. New loop: Rake → Claw up to 4–5 combo points → Ferocious Bite (or Rip against tough targets).
  • Don't stealth up to every mob – the approach often takes longer than a normal pull.
  • Warcraft Tavern states that druids can learn polearms from 20 (uncertain – ask a weapon master).

Checkpoint: level 24, Cat Form, Feral Swiftness 2/2, Feral Instinct 3/3.
